EBQ has as its goal to cope with the demands of both the Brazilian and the international markets for sustainably produced high quality QUARTZ. Some actions are taking in the day-by-day way of operation and in the business ethics.
EBQ’s procedures are considered by government authorities an example in its field of mining activity. Moreover, as part of the environment-related requirements, the Company keeps a native forest reserve near the areas being exploited as a compensation for the effects of its activities.
The environment actions for each mine in exploitation, compels EBQ to fulfill determining factors so as to minimize the impacts of its activity: draining of the whole mine for detention basins, vegetation covering the waste deposits, re-sloping of exhausted exploitation areas, reforestation with native species, and so forth. The mining sites is frequently monitored and inspected by the environmental authorities.
Procedures related to the environment, to occupational health and to security at work represent special concerns of the Company, not only as observing the due legislations but also aiming at being an example in the correct development of a QUARTZ mine.
All workers wear appropriate Individual Protection Equipment and are submitted to periodic medical examinations.
The physical sustainability of the enterprise rests on the process of Research & Development, through an ongoing program of identifying and developing new deposits, thus ensure mineral reserves for the future.
