TAQUARAÇU MINE

This mine in the State of Minas Gerais is a QUARTZ supplier to the main Brazilian producers of High Grade Silicon Metal and HP- FerroSilicon. Situated about 65km away from the capital of the State (Belo Horizonte) has easy access to rather favorable transport conditions. Taquaraçu is about 530km away from the port of Vitória (State of Espírito Santo), being connected to it both by highway and railroad, and 500km away from Rio de Janeiro, which can be reached through one of the main highways of the country.

This mine, with production capacity of 20,000 (twenty thousand) metric tons per month, is focused on QUARTZ for the Silicon Metal Chemical Grade and Ferro-Silicon HP industries.

The region where Taquaraçu Mine is located has a QUARTZ ore reserve of 3,000,000 (three million) metric tons. The QUARTZ is of hydrothermal origin, as milk-white masses, and it is not friable, as sub-vertical veins in big boudinage structure.
